Today was a busy day in Room 1.
The students are going to be working on making puppet shows about a community in Canada they have been learning about. The characters in the story are the animals they have been researching.
Today we got in our story writing groups and decided what the main problem of their story will be.

We have been talking about what is expected during group work. We found out that group work goes well when we listen to the ideas of others, take turns talking, are open minded and flexible in our thinking. One thing we need to work on is using inside voices.

Today in math we practiced using expanded form to add large numbers. We discovered that if we know 8+4=12 THEN 80+40= 120! You just add a zero.

This afternoon we had a mystery object in our mystery bag. Ask your student what was in the bag!

We also researched some of the provincial flags. Ask your child about the flag of the province they have been researching and what the symbols and colours represent.
