This week we are learning about the properties of water. Last week we learned that water has low viscosity, which means that water flows easily. Today we learned that water takes the shape of whatever container it is poured into. See some pictures below!

Today we also did an experiment. We filled a glass to the very top with water. I asked the students how many pennies I could add to the cup before the water flowed over the sides. The whole class, Ms. Watts included said less than 10 pennies. I told anyone who guessed over 70 pennies, that it was a silly guess. Well, to our surprise we added 72 pennies before the water flowed over the side! We made some observations that the water formed a "wrap, seal, skin, protective cover" as it got more and more full.

Water is a pretty interesting liquid!
